How to Prepare Doughnuts
Doughnuts are a treat that many people all over the world adore. Making doughnuts from scratch is a fun and satisfying activity, whether you prefer the standard glazed doughnut or something a little more adventurous. So that you can make your own delicious treats at home, we’ll walk you through the fundamental steps of making doughnut dough in this blog.
Ingredients:
Three and a half cups of all-purpose flour, one cup of granulated sugar, one packet of instant yeast, two and a half teaspoons of salt, one cup of whole milk, one cup of water, four tablespoons of softened unsalted butter, and two large eggs Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil all work well)
In a huge bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, moment yeast, and salt until very much consolidated.
In a small saucepan or in the microwave, combine the milk and water until the mixture is warm to the touch but not hot. Mix the milk mixture with the softened butter until the butter is melted.
The eggs and milk mixture should be added to the dry ingredients in the bowl. Mix everything together with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes, turning it out onto a lightly floured surface, until it is smooth and elastic. You can add a little bit more flour if the dough is too sticky.
Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel in a large, greased bowl. The dough should rise for about one to two hours, or until it has doubled in size, in a warm, draft-free location.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch on a floured surface once it has risen. To make the doughnuts, use a doughnut cutter or two round cookie cutters of varying sizes. Place the cut doughnuts on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Using a clean kitchen towel, cover the doughnuts and let them rise for another 30 to 60 minutes or so until they have firmed up a bit.
In a large, deep pot or deep fryer, heat a few inches of oil to 350°F. Place the doughnuts carefully, one at a time, in the hot oil and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown.
The doughnuts should be removed from the oil with a slotted spoon or a spider and placed on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
You can dip the doughnuts in glaze or sugar while they are still warm. For a basic coating, combine as one 1 cup of powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla concentrate, and enough milk to make a smooth, pourable coating. Dipped in the glaze, the doughnuts were left to dry on a wire rack.
That’s everything! Although making doughnuts from scratch takes some time, the end result is well worth it. So put on your apron and get ready to make doughnuts at home by frying them!
